Hand hygiene, including regular handwashing with soap and water, is an important step in protecting yourself and others from COVID-19 and other infections. Washing your hands regularly, especially after being in a public place, after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing, and before and after eating, can help to remove any potential viruses or bacteria that may be on your hands.

However, it's worth noting that handwashing alone may not be enough to fully protect you from the virus. It's important to also practice other infection prevention measures, such as physical distancing, wearing a mask in public, and avoiding close contact with people who are sick. In addition to this, it's important to get the vaccine when you are eligible and to follow any recommendations or guidelines issued by public health officials.

It's also worth noting that there is also a risk of transmission through other surfaces that may not be effectively cleaned by hand washing alone. This risk can be minimized by avoiding contact with high-touch surfaces, or by cleaning and disinfecting the surfaces frequently.

It's important to remember that preventing infection is a multi-faceted effort, and following several different steps and recommendations can improve your chances of staying healthy.
